Abstract:

A cold plasma of DC corona discharges: positive streamer corona and negative Trichel pulses was
used for bio-decontamination of Streptococci biofilm on plastic and teeth surfaces. Enhancement
of plasma biocidal effects by was investigated. Electro-spraying of water through a hollow needle
high-voltage electrode significantly increased the bacterial reduction up to 4 logs with both types
of samples. Analysis of tooth surfaces after plasma treatment was carried out by Fourier transform
infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) did not show any chemical changes on plasma treated teeth.
