Abstrakt: The effect of electro-spraying of water was studied in combination with DC streamer corona
discharge generated in air. We used a point-to-plane geometry of electrodes with a hollow syringe needle
anode opposite to the copper plate cathode. For the investigation of electro-spray with corona discharge we
used oscilloscopic measurements in combination with ICCD camera for fast imaging. This method is useful for
a time-resolved visualization of fast phenomena. We visualized the repetitive process of Taylor cone formation
and droplet formation from the mass fragments of water during electrospray. Depending on the voltage,
various modes of electro-spraying were observed: dripping mode, spindle mode and multi-spindle mode. At a
voltage of 4.5 kV, the streamer corona discharge occurred. The generation of this discharge from the water
cone depended on the repetitive process of the cone formation.
