Abstract:

A method of a digital streak photography of combustion or detonation process is described. The streak image is reconstructed from binary words produced by an ordered set of sensors which monitor the process. The temporal and spatial resolution of the process is increased by a quick periodic changing of threshold levels used for the A/D conversion of the sensor signals. The multilevel digitization gives a measure of signal intensity with time. The proposed streak-photograph-like projection of the flame position has been used to visualize the condition of the burning fuel in long pipes.
