Demanovska Cave of Liberty (4 km away)

The Demanovska Cave of Liberty is situated in the Demanovska Valley and is the most beautiful cave of the large system
of caves, in the north of the Low Tatras. It was created in blue-grey Triassic calcites and has six floors. River Demanovka
flows through its lowest floor. The cave is unique with quantity and variety of stalactite formations of all types.
Apart from white stalactites, we can find here yellow, pink, red and even purple stalactites (because of iron compounds).
All stalactite and stalagmite formations are still growing, with high gloss, what is very rare in other caves. The cave was
discovered by A. Kral and A. Misura in 1921 and was opened for the public in the same year, after pathways and electric
lights were built up. Current entrance was digged out in 1930 at the altitude of 870 m (50 m above the bottom of the valley).
Together with the neighbouring cave Pusta jaskyna has the cave the total length of 8,900 m.

cave is 1.7 km and just 540 m were opened for the public. The Demanovska Ice Cave is one of the first known caves in the
world. It is mentioned in the document of the Estergom's Chapter from December 5, 1299. The cave was explored for the first
time in 1719 by Juraj Buchholtz jr., who made also its first lengthwise cross-section with marking of its all glaciated stalactite
and stalagmite parts. The cave was open to the public in 1880s. After wooden stairs, pavements and electric lights were
