PLANTED Outcomes
Dissemination activities, papers, ...

PLANTED is ENLIGHT Thematic Networks (ETN) project. ENLIGHT stands for European university Network to promote equitable quality of Life, sustaInability and Global engagement through Higher education Transformation. ENLIGHT is a European University alliance of ten comprehensive, research-intensive universities from ten European countries.
Planned vs. reached outcomes
O1: | Creation of a new thematic multidisciplinary international network on the topic of cold
plasma/AOP-based wastewater treatment. |
Scientific collaboration has been crucial right from the initial proposal of this ETN project. It's not a one-off event, but a continuous process that unfolds throughout the project's duration. Already during the first "training school" for doctoral students, several potential collaborations were successfully agreed upon, confirming a proactive approach to networking. These early agreements promise rich scientific results and innovative solutions stemming from the project. The synergy built in this way between researchers and institutions forms the basis for the lasting impact and contribution of the ETN project.

O2: | New educational materials are prepared for the 5 relevant bachelor and master courses and
2 MOOCs which are listed in the implementation plan of the partner universities. |
Pedagogical staff involved in this ETN project are currently developing study materials that can be shared among partner universities. For instance, we've already prepared lecture notes on fundamental plasmachemistry in Slovak, which will be published in September 2025 after incorporating reviewer feedback. Following this, we'll collaborate with project partners to translate these materials into English and potentially other languages, ensuring wider accessibility. This initiative fosters a truly collaborative learning environment within the ETN network.
All prepared study materials will be made available on a private section of this web portal, accessible to all members of this ETN project. |
O3: |
At least 2 speakers are invited from collaborating universities to bring additional expertise
to the courses.
Two lecturers from Tartu (Ivar Zekker and Indrek Jogi) and two lecturers from Ghent (Anton Nikiforov and Stijn Van Hulle) were invited to Bratislava to lecture at the 1st training school in May 2025. We will continue this exchange of lecturers during the two following training schools, which will be organized in Tartu and Ghent.
O4: |
3 training schools (1 in each partnering university) are organized with at least 15 participants
in each.
The 1st training school was already organized in Bratislava from May 12-16. Discussion about the organization of the following training school in Tartu began during the annual meeting of ETN members in Bratislava on May 13.
O5: |
24 Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) are conducted for exploratory experiments.
...
O6: |
3 joint research papers with at least two partner universities will be prepared during the
project.
...
O7: |
At least 2 small and 1 large joint project proposals are submitted.
...
O8: |
Dissemination plan listing the purpose, audiences, methods and timing of the dissemination
activities is prepared in the beginning of the project.
...
O9: |
A web-portal with the public and member restricted pages is prepared.
The PLANTED web portal (both public and private sections) has been created. This was officially presented to ETN members and students at the end of the 1st Training School in Bratislava on May 16.
O10: |
At least 5 scientific outreach activities, videos, popular science articles and social media
posts are produced. These are combined, when possible, e.g. videos or science outreach activities are
also posted in social media (such as X, Facebook, ResearchGate, LinkedIn, Estonian TV and Radio).
...
O11: |
Action book summarizing the activities which highlight the most important scientific and
educational breakthroughs achieved during the project execution is prepared.
To be prepared at the end of the project.
So In Conclusion...
Despite early stage of the project (March 2025), some of desired outcomes were already achieved. The joint PLANTED team is working on the succesfull achievement of other planned outcomes. We believe that by the end of the project, we reach all our objectives.
