PhD in environmental applications of plasmas
Division of Environmental Physics, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of Comenius University in Bratislava is currently
seeking highly qualified applicants for 4-year doctoral program
starting in March 2022.
Topic: Electrical discharges in a contact with catalysts. Plasma catalysis for flue gas cleaning.
Eligibility and requirements
A potential candidate should be an enthusiastic person with a solid knowledge and experience in physics of discharges and plasmas, chemistry or chemical catalysis. The minimal requirements include a completed Master level degree in the intended area of study or a closely related area. Application and evaluation process
The deadline for application is September 31, 2021. Received applications will be briefly evaluated and the best applicants will be selected for a pre-interview. If the pre-interview is successful the applicants will be approved to enroll in the main application process at the Faculty level with a deadline of October 30. The main interview will be held in the middle of December.
A student who will pass the main interview will be accepted for a PhD studies starting from March 2022. A standard duration of the PhD program is 4 years. Every year evaluation of student's activity and achievements is done. If the evaluation is successful the student is allowed to pass to the next year of the study.
Scholarship, accommodation and insurance
The student is entitled to receive a tax-free monthly scholarship of 807 EUR, further increased to 950 EUR after passing qualification exams. Accommodation in a student dormitory is guaranteed (usually a single room for 80 EUR/month). The health insurance is also covered by the University. Additional funds are often available to the most successful and productive students.
