Offer Description::
Topic N: Cold plasma nitrogen fixation and plasma-liquid systems
Research Field: Physics / Chemistry / Environmental engineering
Our research team is focused on environmental/biomedical/agriculture applications of cold plasma. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled recognised researcher (R2 Researcher) with at least 4-year expertise in cold plasma or AOP applications in wastewater treatment or related field to contribute to the project EnvADWICE “Environmental Applications of electrical Discharges for Water and aIr Cleaning, and agriculturE”.
The candidate’s main tasks will be:
- Design, develop and test air cold plasma reactors for nitrogen fixation and the production of plasma-activated water (PAW)
- Physical characterization of the plasma system and diagnostics of plasma-treated air (FTIR absorption spectroscopy, gas chromatography – mass spectroscopy)
- Chemical analysis of the generated PAW (absorption/fluorescence spectroscopy)
- Optimization and scale-up of the plasma-liquid systems.
- Publishing the obtained results in high-impact scientific journals and presenting at international conferences.
- Preparing technical reports, scientific manuscripts, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing guidance and mentorship to Bc., Ms., PhD., and visiting students when required.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications
The candidate should demonstrate his/her competence in the following aspects:
- Experience with cold plasma systems with water, eplasma diagnostic
- Experience in gas/water analytics (FTIR, UV-vis absorption)
- Chemical measurements and analysis of reactive species induced in PAW
- Previous research related to plasma activation of water.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
- Proficiency in research and writing scientific articles.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills demonstrated through publications or presentations.
- Ability to work independently and in an international team-oriented research environment.
- At least 4 years’ experience in the field of plasma/AOP water applications and wastewater analysis.
- Creativity, critical scientific thinking, design and optimize plasma-liquid systems.
- Ability to design and conduct experiments individually.
- A proven track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent level of oral and written communication in English.
- Experience in mentoring students and international work experience are advantages.
